Who was Buddha?

He was a teacher who lived over 2500 years ago; he was not a god. He was more of a psychologist & thought of himself as a doctor of insight into human problems. He taught us how to transcend them through meditation. Buddhism is a tradition in a way of thinking, being, & doing. Awaken the insight of sacred guidance deep within us all. The Buddha in you is your best teacher.

The teachings of Buddha, are about handling difficult situations in life. Their are two extremes that you should not succumb to:

  1. Indulgence
  2. Self denial & self torture

Buddha gives us the answers in the four noble truths, his diagnosis:

  1. We are sick & suffering & dissatisfaction is part of it.
  2. He diagnosed the disease, the origin
  3. Is the cure; the end of the sickness
  4. Is "an end to the suffering"; The Eightfold Path.

Life is full of pain, frustration, disappointments & suffering.

The eightfold noble path, will free us; the right views, right intentions, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, & right concentration. This is the middle path, which gives insight & wisdom, & leads to calm, to vision, to enlightenment, to

"Nirvana"

We should walk the path as people who simply wish to be free & good in this world. The path has no beginning & the path does not end.
